INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage

  • 1 slice Raw Bacon Slice

  • 6 Garlic Cloves

  • 1 1/2 Small Yellow Onions

  • 1/4 bunch Italian Parsley

  • 1 bunch Garden Fresh Thyme

  • 1 Egg

  • 3/4 cup Whole Milk

  • 1/2 cup Panko Breadcrumbs

  • 6 inches Cotton Twine

  • 1 tsp Ground Cumin

  • 1 tsp Chili Flakes

  • 1 Tbsp Mustard Powder

  • 1 tsp Hungarian Paprika

  • 2 tsp Kosher Salt

  • 2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • 1 pinch Black Pepper

  • 2 Tbsp White Vinegar

  • 2 cups Tomato Ketchup

  • 1/4 cup Molasses

  • 1/4 cup Light Brown Sugar

STEPS

  1. Gather Ingredients

  2. Preheat Oven

    Preheat the oven to 375F.

  3. Prepare Vegetables

    Prepare ingredients.

  4. Cook Onions

    Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

    Sauté onions and garlic for 3 minutes or until soft.

    Take off heat and let cool for 5 minutes.

  5. Create Meatball Mix

    Mix milk and breadcrumbs in a large bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes.

    Mix in onion mixture and add chili flakes, egg, salt and black pepper.

    Finely chop parsley and add to meatball base. Mix well to combine.

    Combine and mix sausage and meatball base.

  6. Form & Cook Meatballs

    Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

    Form 2 oz meatballs out of mixture and arrange on prepared sheet pan.

    Bake meatballs for 15 minutes, or until cooked through.

  7. Prepare BBQ Flavor

    Lay slice of bacon flat onto a cutting board. Place thyme in one end and roll until wrapped around thyme bunch. Secure with kitchen twine.

    Prepare onion.

  8. Create BBQ Flavor

    Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

    Add bacon roll, onion and garlic, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes or until lightly browned.

    Add the rest of ingredients, stir to mix, and let simmer for 5 minutes.

    Spoon out the onion, garlic and bacon roll. Discard.

  9. Combine Meatballs & Sauce

    Add cooked meatballs into sauce, stir to coat and let simmer for 3 minutes.

  10. Serve & Enjoy

    Arrange meatballs and sauce on a plate. Garnish with parsley.

    Serve with your favorite side. Ours is a sour cream topped baked potato!
