  1. How to Slice Brussels Sprouts

    Trim and discard the stems of the brussels sprouts.

    Start slicing the brussels sprouts thinly lengthwise. Since this brassica (the plant family brussels sprouts belong to) is tiny, you will want to go slow and steady, so you won't slip and cut your finger.

    If you're not confident in your knife skills, try cutting brussels sprouts in half lengthwise, then placing them cut side down and slice. This trick will make them more stable.

    Trim and discard the stems of the brussels sprouts if they look dry and wilted.

    Place brussels sprouts on a cutting board, and slice lengthwise in half.
